RE: How many tow with GM 6L gasser?

If you tow with a Chev/GMC 6L gas engine: 1) How much weight do you tow? Approx. 8,000 lbs. 2) Do you tow mainly on flat ground or also over mountain passes? Mainly flat with a few big hills. 3) If steep hills, is that engine adequate? I have not pulled in the mountains and very few steep hills. I really have not had an issue with not enough power. 4) What mileage do you get towing? I tow in OD with the tow button on averaging 7 mpg. 5) What mileage when not towing? Not too impressive, but I get 10 unloaded. -Dick

RE: Travel Trailer or Fifth Wheel ?

IMO its a personal preference. I think that a 5er is much easier to hook up and to maneuver into tight spots. However, I have much more experience with a 5er than a TT. I see the main advantage to a TT is the fact that you have your whole truck box to haul your camping goods.

RE: RV Traffic on Highways down

The CG that we stayed at was full. This morning on the way to work, I thought there was a lot of RV travel on I-80.

RE: Does Drafting Semi Trucks work?

Probably not the smartest thing to do to save a few dollars. However, You may need to bump draft to get around the leader.

RE: I've got RV envy.......

Since you're storing it for him, you should be exercising it. Hopefully, He left you a full tank of fuel.

RE: tires and pressures

I would check the pressure rating of the rims first before going to 50 PSI. Say what????:?:h Never heard of such a thing. The rims should have the max psi stamped in them. Your old tires were probably load range B making the max 35 psi.

RE: Tire PSI

Mine are listed at 50 psi and I run them at 45 psi.

RE: Camping lights/Decor!!!!!!

Tiki torches and rope lighting around the perimeter of the awning mat. The rope lights give the mat a glowing look.

RE: How to aim antenna with digital tv?

My HDTV's have signal strength bars. I'm not sure if all do, but this is how I tune mine.

RE: HELP!

Don't feel back I did the same thing a couple of years ago. Thought the battery was no good and bought a new one. Same problem, After a couple of hours of messing with things I realized that I had them hooked up backwards.

RE: Which kit to install Reese 5th wheel into 2008+ GM HD?

I installed the custom brackets on an older model. I found that etrailer was very helpful. Maybe try contacting them. http://www.etrailer.com/faq.aspx

RE: Truck Rails vs 5vr - how much space

I would say that to be safe 6 - 7 inches would be ideal.

RE: Short Bed vs Long Bed

I agree with what longtrailer48 says. I've pulled with both long and short box trucks, they both have good and bad things about it. My main drawback on the SB is that I have problems hauling all of my camping stuff.

RE: I-80 Eastern Iowa (Updated Important Info)

Flooding has got a lot of roads closed. I work 60 miles from home, but last night had a take an alternate route that was 90 miles.
